Note to future-procrastinating-self: When you feel stuck or fall behind on writing or publishing here, remember this.
Writing is thinking.
Writing forces clarity. It's how we grow, refine our understanding of the world and sometimes, help others.
To write well you have to think clearly, and thinking clearly is hard... AI has blown this world open. Almost all pressure to write has dissipated. You can have AI do it for you, both in school and at work. The result will be a world divided into writes and write-nots... If you're thinking without writing, you only think you're thinking.
— Paul Graham on Writes and Write-Nots
It's good for the soul.
Writing sharpens focus and provides a sense of ownership over your thoughts.
Having your own little corner of the internet is good for the soul!
— Simon Willison on What to blog about?
You can write even when you are stuck.
It doesn't need to be unique or groundbreaking. Write frequently. Write for yourself. Share TILs, document projects I'm tinkering on, or add commentary to interesting links I find.
Sharing interesting links with commentary is a low effort, high value way to contribute to internet life at large.
— Simon Willison on More people should do this
Thank you for writing.
